Dual Technology devices usually comprises of infra red (IR) and Microwave. In case, if there is movement of warm objects against a background level IR gets activated while microwave transmits a signal and monitors the return signal. Thus, if any "new" object in front of the device alters this signal, detectors capture it. As IR and Microwave detect different phenomena, there are fewer chances that they may get subjected to the same false alarm sources. But at the same time, they are equally good at detecting real alarm events. Therefore, combination of infra red and microwave properties could be combined in one detector, which posses excellent detection rate and high immunity to false alarms.
Applications
-The combination of infra red and microwave assures an excellent detection performance ideally suited for use in remote sites, high risk areas, potentially troublesome environments and sites requiring coverage over large areas (up to 20m and 15m), where installation of alarm system would prove out to be costlier and troublesome.
- In addition, use of dual technology detectors means need of fewer sensors which in turn means less wiring is required; easier installation and maintenance and lower power consumption.
